Department Commander Carl Dietrich's January 2009 News Letter and Convention Update

Department Commander   Carl A. Dietrich   417-882-9282   carldietrich@att.net

Greeting and Salutations from the Department Commander.

This newsletter is the first of the

New Year, and my wishes are that your Chapters are doing great and they are helping other

Veterans.

The Executive Council was held in Joplin, Missouri on the 10th of January, and was very well attend-

ed by all.  There are always the core veterans that come through during times when others fail to

notice the need.  I am always grateful for these Patriots.  They serve well and with distinction.

We covered a great multitude of issues, which I will discuss in general in the below paragraphs.

It was a very cold day and I was greatly relieved to see so many of our Patriots brave the cold

weather for the trip.  As usual, Ron Mosbaugh and 821 did a great job of providing a meeting

place and an avenue to feed.  That's always important to us Patriots (F00d).

The Issue of bonding was resolved, in that the Department voted to expend funds to cover the

cost for all Chapters within the State.  The final cost will be revealed at the State Convention.

As most of you know.  Departmental elections are held in May and by that, I mean to issue the

proclamation that if you are interested in running for any elected position within the Department,

you would be directed to forecast that nomination to Bud Whyte, our Adj.  Bylaws indicate that it

is necessary to notify the Chapters of an election attempt two months prior to the said date of 16 May,

2009.  I have asked our Legislative Officer to make an attempt to provide an elected Official of our

great State to help officiate the installation of Officers at the Dinner.

The State convention will be held in Springfield, Missouri, on 15-16 May 2009.(This is addressed

on our website). The event will be hosted by the Departmental Commander.  There will be some

changes this year to the overall program.  The first one is I will not be collecting monies for ads

sent into for the Departmental convention Booklet.  I am going to absorb these costs myself and

honor all of our great patriots who have over the years been so gracious with funds.  This year, I

hope to produce the ads and the booklet without any cost to the Department.  I am asking that

all Chapter Commanders forward to me as soon as you can a full page ad for your chapter, it will

be displayed in the convention booklet.

I have made every attempt to bring costs down, because of the economy.  I understand many are

in situations that require diligent perusal of their funds, So to make travel and lodging easier,

I have negotiated a fair and reasonable price for both.

The convention will be held at the La Qunita Inn on South Campbell in Springfield on 15-16

of May 2009,  We will enjoy for all who attend on Friday evening a social time from 7-1000PM

The Convention will start promptly at 0800 on the 16th.  Room rates are posted on the website.

If you are not on line, you may call the Hotel and request your reservation.  In doing so, ask for

the MOPH rate.  Our Ladies will provide a light breakfast Also offered as part of Room rate if

staying there) and light luncheon.  Coffee, and other beverages will be available during the

meeting times.  We will adjourn around 1600.  Dinner will be served next door at Ryan's,  This

is a pay as you enter the establishment,  Expect to pay around 10.00 per person.  We will have formal

installation at the Dinner.

To ensure proper registration of all guests there will be a $10.00 fee For each MOPH member.  There

is no charge for your ladies.  I will provide a coupons for registration in the next newsletter.

If you are planning to attend, I advise you to make your reservations early, as we only have a

small block of rooms available, and the rest of the rooms will fill quickly during this seasonal time

There is much to discuss about the future of our organization,  We will have a National Officer

attending our Convention and I heartily recommend to our Chapter Commanders to bring

as many of their Patriots as they can.

We will be honoring the Patriot of the Year as well as other Patriots who have made a real impact

for the State of Missouri

If you have any questions, please fell free to contact me  by phone or email.  Both are listed

at the top of the letterhead.
